THE IMMIGRANT

(Published 1/31/2007)

1 to March 4, 2007 in Finestrat (Alicante) will be made non-competitive R Social Film (CINESTRAT) which brings together documentary and fictional film international talks about working conditions and the need to emigrate because of the lack of jobs and opportunities. The organization has been selected for screening on 4 March our documentary "The Vineyard of the Lord", Driven by Ana on offer.

We are delighted, but especially for a random detail, the familiar sign: share screen with "The Immigrant", a Mexican-American film shot between 2003 and 2005 by directors John Sheedy, David and John Eckenrode, a trio of true independent filmmakers with whom I met in December 2005 in Santa Fe festival and whose work inspired the origin of "The vine ...". A true masterpiece "The Immigrant" which recounts with surgical precision and a disarming narrative talent (including irony) the drama of an immigrant shot dead in their flight to the country next door. I never thought I would agree again and less of a catalog. There are days that pay a whole. Next to people able to make movies like that (they gave me a poster and still keep as gold cloth) anyone would be comforted.

CINESTRAT 2007
I
Intentions Film Shows

Finestrat Social Work is an essential part of human life and its history. In our first example we want to be an audiovisual showcase of working conditions and human migration that generates the work for his absence and his need to survive. Because, compared to the broad and legitimate demands of unionized workers in developed countries, there are millions of people worldwide without formal rights and barely collected enough to keep from starving, working from sunrise to sunset. Here we must not forget that we have the great good fortune to live in a privileged world and therefore is the recipient of immigrants, people who just want to participate in welfare free. A reflection on radical contrasts unites us is now our intention.

Work and migrate to find work that provides a better
life are key issues which we no longer decipher, if any sketch, on an increasingly complex world by increasing exchanges of goods and people around the globe. We hope to provide a rich image due to the efforts of those directors and producers who choose to participate with their diverse films to give substance to this show with examples of how they manage the people working to grow live or just survive.
